AltNova performs restorations of valuable metal and natural stone works. Centrally from our workhouses in Zaventem, we work all over Belgium. In this way, we are constantly working on our specialty and building up more and more know-how. We are a skilled and cohesive team of specialists with solid knowledge of traditional techniques, we apply new technologies in our work whenever possible. AltNova has the expertise to reconstruct vanished objects and constructions in cast & wrought iron and/or natural stone according to the original.
Forgings & cast iron
Restoration of historically valuable metal works : gates and fences in wrought iron and balconies in cast iron.
New fabrication of vanished ironwork based on old photographs, or still according to own insights with a nod to styles such as Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Louis XIV, XV…
Natural stone works
Old metal work is almost always anchored in natural stone. Rusted metal elements are the cause of much stone damage.
Restoration of existing sculptures, pedestals, columns according to the rules of art and identical copies of missing pieces of natural stone.
Restoration of steel joinery
Thorough restorations of steel entrance doors (wrought iron front doors, for example) and window frames.
Missing parts are recreated as per the original, we install safety glass or, after changing the glazing bars, thermally insulating glazing.
Custom hardware
Identical copies of missing window pumps, espagnolettes,… in cast iron and non-ferrous (bronze, brass).
We use 3D scanning and printing techniques to arrive at the model. Variations on existing elements, or even scaled models are possible.
Monument Restoration
Restoration of architectural heritage in many cases requires a global approach to metal work, natural stone, masonry and concrete work.
AltNova provides coordination of the various disciplines, with due attention to heritage philosophy.
Contemporary metal works
Combination of metal and wood, with or without glass. On construction sites where restoration work is carried out at the same time, this has the advantage of only one interlocutor.
