Craftsperson historic metalwork

Your role

You are a versatile craftsperson specialising in traditional metalworking.  In the workshop, you carry out restoration work to give valuable historic metalwork, often severely affected by corrosion, a second life. This includes cast and wrought iron balconies, monumental gates in parks and castles, metal doors and windows, historic bridges, and more.  This is a varied and engaging role offering many learning opportunities — each restoration is different and brings a new challenge.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Sandblasting to remove rust and old paint layers
  • Dismantling parts of metal structures (where required)
  • Repairing damaged components or reproducing identical replacements for elements that are too corroded or missing
  • Carrying out welding works for repairs
  • Assembly using bolted and riveted connections
  • Surface treatment through sandblasting and metallisation
  • Occasional machining of unique parts (turning and milling)

Your profile

  • You have knowledge of: welding (migmag/electrode/cutting torch, tig is a plus), drilling & tapping
  • Enthusiastic to learn sandblasting, metallizing, riveting, forging, basic turning & milling, sporadic painting
  • You can read plans and have an understanding of how something is put together: people with a background as a (car) mechanic or vintage car restorer have an edge.
  • You take initiative, learn quickly, can work independently
  • You speak NL, FR or EN (or willing to learn it)
  • Driving license B

We offer

  • You will join a healthy and growing family business.
  • Competitive salary according to knowledge and experience, eco- and meal vouchers 8€
  • 40h working week with 12 additional vacation days
  • Collective vacation in July (3 weeks) and end of year (2 weeks)
  • Full-time, part-time
